Has the restaurant ever been chosen as a setting for a movie?

Yes! South Sea has been chosen for a handful of movies in the past. The latest movie filmed at the restaurant was in 2006, and the movie was a drama/thriller titled "Obituary" starring Josie Bissett (from Melrose Place). The movie can still be seen on TV periodically!

Where are you located?  Is there shopping nearby?

South Sea is located at 282 Ottawa Street North, 1 block south of Barton.  We are in the core of the Ottawa Street Fashion District that is recognized as one of the top locations in Ontario for designers to visit and shop for textiles and dressmaker accessories.   Please phone us at 905-545-0352 if you require further assistance with directions.

Where do you get those rectangle and square plates you use for your entrees?

We at South Sea strive to not only cook up delicious food, but to present it in an elegant way to make your dining experience more exciting and fun!  Contributing to the presentation is our careful selection of Chinaware.  Much of our Chinaware is directly imported from Thailand and China. We purchase only commercial grade Chinaware, which is typically not sold in retail stores.

Do you offer discounts or any freebies for take-out orders?

We at South Sea believe in providing all our customers with the best quality of food, service and atmosphere and strive to deliver value to our customers everyday with no frills or gimmicks.  Therefore, rather than inflating base prices and offering freebies or discount promotions like some restaurants are known to do, we strive to offer the lowest base prices anyday, everyday, with no minimum purchase or blackout dates.  That way, everyone can take advantage of low prices, regardless of how much your purchase is, what day of the week you order, or what payment method you choose. Have a look at our low take-out menu prices and you will be assured that our prices are one of the lowest in the city.  On the other hand, we do realize that our customers do like incentives, so as an added bonus to our already low base prices, we do offer 10% off pickup orders on cash or Interac purchases over $25 from our take-out menu before taxes. 

Are your take-out prices and dining room prices the same?

We've done a complete remodel of our dining room Chinaware and adjusted the portions of a few selected entrees to better suit the new dishes. As a result, the portion sizes of selected entrees will vary slightly between take-out and dining room, resulting in nominal price differences. The prices shown on this website are for take-out orders and may be subject to change. We're confident that the quantity per dollar ratio is the same between take-out and dine-in.

Do you do off-site catering?  Can we arrange a party in your dining room?

Yes, and yes!  We cater to many parties annually including birthdays, anniversaries, Christmas parties, and business luncheons.  Give us a call or email us at info@southsea.ca  and one of our experienced staff members will be glad to assist in customizing a food order that complements your tastes and your budget.  We offer special catering prices.  Typical catered business luncheons with delivery and set-up begin at $9 per person (based on min. 20 persons). We also offer stag-and-doe take-out catering packages beginning at $6 per person (based on min. 100 per persons). Furthermore, we would be glad to set up a party for you at our establishment, with sitting for up to 70.  

Do you sell gift certificates?

Yes!  Gift certificates never expire and are available in any denomination.

What payment methods are accepted?

For dine-in and pick-up, we accept cash, Interac, Visa, MasterCard, and Amex.  For delivery, we accept all of the above except for Interac (ID is required for credit card delivery orders).

Is there more than 1 South Sea Restaurant location?

To the best of our knowledge, there is also a South Sea on the Danforth.  They are an entirely distinct restaurant from us.
